About Signal Mountain Youth Baseball

Signal Mountain Youth Baseball proudly provides high quality youth baseball and is a franchise of the Dixie Youth Baseball Organization.

Signal Mountain Youth Baseball is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Serving the Signal Mountain community for over 30 years, we have a robust youth baseball league that is in need of continued support from local businesses. Our league ranges in age from 3-12 years old, with over 350 kids playing last season.

The league plays ball at three different field areas - Town Hall, Timberlinks, and adjacent to SMMHS. While these fields are owned by the Town of Signal Mountain and Hamilton County, SMYB is responsible for a variety of different maintenance and improvement aspects that are needed to continue meeting the ever-changing demands of the growing league. Leagues/ Age Groups

Tee-Ball

Tee-Ball is for beginners (first year playing). Kids age 3 to 5 are eligible. Tee-ball is designed to introduce the game of

baseball by focusing on fundamentals, sportsmanship, and of course having fun. Each child is given the opportunity to hit a coach pitched ball. If unsuccessful, a tee is utilized. This league is non-competitive as no official score is kept. Game times do not exceed 60 minutes. Tee-ball is played at the ball fields located on Timberlinks Drive.

"A" Ball: Advanced 5/6 Year Olds
Advanced (5/6) baseball is for most children that have already played a year of tee-ball and want to develop their next

level skills. Kids age 4 to 6 are eligible. This league is officially listed as the Dixie Youth "A" classification. We introduce

more of a competitive environment in this league. All batters must do coach pitch as the tee is no longer available. More traditional baseball rules are utilized and there will be an official winner and loser of the game. Game times do not exceed 60 minutes. Advanced baseball is played at the ball fields located on Timberlinks Drive.

"AA" Ball: 7/8 Year Olds

Kids age 7 to 8 play at the lower Town Hall field. This league is officially listed as the Dixie Youth “AA” classification. At

this age level coaches pitch but the competition is elevated as kids are older and more experienced. We will hold a

separate 7 and 8 league regular season and tournament. Game times do not exceed 75 minutes.

"AAA": 9/10 Year Olds

Kids age 9 to 10 play at the upper Town Hall field. This league is officially listed as the Dixie Youth “AAA” classification. At this age level the kids have their first opportunity to pitch. We will hold a combined 9 and 10 league regular season and tournament. Game times do not exceed 90 minutes.

"Ozone": 11/12/13 Year Olds

Kids age 11 to 13 play at a field adjacent to the SMMHS field. This league is officially listed as the Dixie Youth “Ozone”

classification. At this age level the kids are allowed to lead-off as runners and steal bases. Game times do not exceed 90 minutes. This league typically begins later than the others to accommodate for the Middle School schedule.

*13 year olds who do not play Middle School ball or another avenue of baseball will be allowed to play in the league.

"Sophomore": 13/14 Year Olds

Kids age 13 to 14 play 'home' games at a field adjacent to the SMMHS field. This league is officially a Dizzy Dean league and not associated with Dixie Youth. This is the first time SMYB is offering this to our older kids. All 13 and 14 year olds are eligible to play in this league. This division partners with other leagues across the Chattanooga region and the kids will travel to those parks to play 'away' games.  Approximate dates for the season are from late May until early July. The regular season is on weeknights only. There is a possibility of a World Series style tournament in Southaven, MS that this league would try to field a team for. This tournament begins on July 10th.
