2017 Homerun Derby Info
Signal Mountain Youth Baseball held their 2017 Home Run Derby Fundraiser on April 29th, 2017. The event is an annual staple of the organization’s spring baseball season. With beautiful weather all day, the kids and their families came out and had a great time as a baseball community.
“Signal Mountain Youth Baseball is a wonderful organization that strives to serve the community. Part of that servitude involves financial costs to run the league and make capital improvements to the facilities. This year’s Home Run Derby Fundraiser helped raise over $6,500 towards the league’s annual operating expenses. I cannot express how excited I am to share those numbers with everyone. The volunteers who made this event happen should all be commended for their efforts. It takes a team, and our team is one of the best I have ever worked with,” said league President Mark Wyatt.
Winners of the 2017 Home Run Derby are as follows:
- 4/5 year old division- 1st place: Alex Wyatt & 2nd place: Andrew Dotson
- 6 year old division- 1st place: Cole Cochran & 2nd place: Harrison Phillips
- 7 year old division- 1st place: Hayden Shoemate & 2nd Place: Mac Ramsey
- 8 year old division- 1st place: Wil Flenniken & 2nd Place: Reagan Kulisek
- 9/10 year old division- 1st place: Nick Gibson & 2nd Place: Charlie Silberman
- Dad’s division- 1st place: Andrew Paul
In addition to the home run derby contests, the event held a mom’s softball game that was won on a walk off single in the bottom of the 7th inning. The game, which concluded the day, was the perfect finish to a wonderful event.
“Signal Mountain Youth Baseball is excited to continue with our regular season and get ready for postseason tournaments. The Home Run Derby is always a special day where our community can relax and enjoy the sport as a whole. I am looking forward to 2018’s Home Run Derby already,” Wyatt said.
